Mercury was not the first outboard manufacturer that started producing 4 stroke outboards. Mercury finished the job and made it better. We have been using Verado outboards from Mercury Marine long enough to know they are here to stay. Mercury took 4 stroke technology and applied a super charger to it. Till then, 4 strokes were soft out of the hole and in acceleration. Coupled with Mercury patented DTS control our boats are even safer and easier to operate. Super quiet, super easy to operate and super strong these things should have a big old "S" on their chest. When we switched to Verado the whole world changed for us. Better fuel economy meant we can save our customers money and not raise rates. Better performance meant shorter trips to the fishing grounds. Overall quiet operation means I can get to know our clients even better being able to hear them when we are running.
 A staple in outboard motors the Mercury OptiMax is an incredible power platform. Super fuel economy and old school rigging the OptiMax will always have a place in our hearts even in this technical age for several of our applications. We love the light weight of the OptiMax for our high powered flats boats and light weight high speed applications.
The Optis are awesome. Unfortunately the EPA is making it harder for them to remain in the industry. We will continue to use them as long as Mercury is allowed to sell them. -- Capt. Steven Lamp
Naturally aspirated and very strong for a 150. We did a few comparisons with this motor to the competition and the competition lost - bad. Awesome fuel economy mixed with ease of use and super easy maintenance make this motor a very affordable fun platform for any boater. Check out the Mercury 150 4 stroke article written by Capt. With 4 strokes oil changes are a way of life. Mercury made this motor super easy to maintain. Fast oil changes, easy filter changes and the stuff we need to do all of it is right at our Mercury dealers show room. We have found that our 150 4 stroke is an incredibly durable platform.
